Without really knowing what hit us the first time we heard these songs, it is with great pride to announce Woven Records’ first release: The Blisters – Insects EP. Three songs that embody the naive spirit of a young Native Canadian – discovering for the first time his knack for song writing.

The Insects EP marks a stepping stone for 19 year-old Daniel Monkman of Selkirk, Manitoba as he and his band step out of the shadows and into the spotlight. The EP opens on Insects, a jangly plea for understanding topped with an eloquent harmonica solo. The middle child here is Attic, a gloomy piece where Galaxie 500 meets Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) in an existential collision. Finally, the EP closes with Older, a gentle yet melodic piece that invokes baptism imagery... This is only a taste of what’s to come as the outfit is writing material for a proper studio excursion early this spring.

Sans savoir exactement ce qui nous a frappés la première fois que nous l’avons entendu, c'est avec grande fierté que Woven Records, nouvelle étiquette canadienne, présente le EP Insects du groupe The Blisters. Ces trois chansons incarnent l'esprit candide d'un jeune autochtone canadien qui découvre pour la première fois ses talents d’auteur-compositeur.

Le EP Insects assure à Daniel Monkman, jeune talent de 19 ans originaire de Selkirk, au Manitoba, et à son groupe un tremplin leur permettant de sortir de l'ombre. Le EP commence par Insects, un appel grinçant à la compréhension, enrichi d'un éloquent solo à l'harmonica. Puis on passe à Attic, une pièce sombre qui évoque Galaxie 500 avec Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) dans une collision existentielle. Enfin, Insects se termine par Older, morceau doux et mélodique qui invoque l'imagerie d'un baptême.

Ceci n'est qu'un avant-goût de l'avenir puisque The Blisters se trouveront bientôt dans le studio pour leur premier album pleine longueur ce printemps.
